Acorn Angling has the fishing rights to Carmel College on the River Thames near Wallingford, South Oxfordshire.
This beautiful stretch just below the new river bridge, on the south-side of Wallingford holds approximately 30 managed pegs, many of which are accessible by car with parking directly behind.
The river bank here has many natural features. Fallen trees, reeds, and even a fast flowing outlet from a lake (not available for fishing), and attracts many species up to specimen proportions.
The previous Chub record of 9lb 2oz (caught by Acorn Anglings' own Matt Micallef) from the adjacent lake, is now in the river here after freeing itself of the confines of the lake during the 2007 floods, and may very well be caught on our stretch in the not too distant future.
One thing is for sure, there are some BIG Chub in this area with an 8 lb 6oz being returned from an adjacent stretch in early March 08, so Permits are being highly sought after again.
PERMITS on sale from early JUNE, sold on a first-come-first-served basis.
A limited number of 'Night Permits' are also available for adults only.
Juniors are welcome to fish, but MUST be supervised at all times (read our rules section).
